Breakfast Baby Shower

This was one of the most special events I've planned- My Baby Shower! I know it’s not the norm, planning your own shower, but I had so many ideas as to how I wanted it to be so I decided to plan it myself (with the help of my two special people, my mom and sister). 

I had already found out that I was having a boy by that point, so I knew we were going in the blue direction. But I did know that I definitely didn't want a typical baby blue and white shower, so I decided on apple green with just enough blue so guests knew I was having a boy. Being early May, I thought it a good idea to plan an outdoor garden shower so that we could all enjoy what was left of the warm autumn sunshine.

Breakfast is my all time favourite meal, especially a hotel breakfast buffet, where my husband never fails to be amazed that I'm still eating long after he is done. I wanted to re-create a hotel style breakfast for the shower, so I decided on a breakfast baby shower.

We used giant teacups as the centre pieces filled with little flowering plants. Each teacup had a cute rhyming baby saying and little baby stuff like dummies and little blue booties.

I printed photos of my husband and I when we were little in black & white and we used these on the tables and on the buffet.

We used some of these huge martini glasses filled with green apples as centrepieces to alternate with the giant teacups.

Place settings with a seedling favour for each guest.

I had been checking the weather report for days before the event, we were expecting a little rain but not the kind of showers that we did get on that Sunday morn. It poured...and poured...and poured! So much stress for an 8 months prego me! Luckily i did hire a marquee and get it fitted the day before. Everyone kept reminding me that it was showers of blessings, so that put me at ease.

No event is complete without a party favour. We decided on little seedlings with the cutest wording on it (see above). Each one was hand packaged by my gran in little brown paper bags! Eco friendly too! LOVE! The Shower was on the same day as Mother's Day so we gave all the Mom's a cupcake shaped handmade cinnamon cookie that read 'The sweetest things come in small packages'.

I asked my husband to come join me for the present-opening part of the Shower. I had some special surprise presents for him too...

I did hand painted matching 'Daddy' and 'Junior' sneakers. Take a closer look below. My husband loved them! He wore them the day I went to hospital to deliver our son.
